What is a Flat Rack Shipping Container

Flat-rack containers are constructed with steel framing and wooden floorboards to support heavy loads. These containers are the best solution for loading over-width and heavy items that cannot be loaded onto a standard shipping container, such as vehicles and machinery. Flat-rack containers have no roof or sidewalls and are available with two rigid or collapsible end walls, allowing frequent and easy access to cargo. In addition, flat-racks typically have forklift pockets for on-site moves.

Types of container

All container types are available in a range of new and second-hand conditions. All our flat rack container grades are guaranteed to be 100% wind, water, and vermin-proof. 

New

‘A-grade’ new containers have travelled once from the manufacturer and remain in the best possible condition. These storage containers generally have vents in the sidewalls and feature marine plywood floors and lockboxes as standard for added security. 

Used

For more affordable options, choose our B or C-grade second-hand containers. 

Our ‘B-grade’ used containers have been shipped around the world and may feature minor damage, surface rust, or repairs. They can be CSC-plated to allow for international shipping.

Our ‘C-grade’ used shipping containers are supplied ‘as-is’ – likely showing signs of previous maintenance, dents and rust. They are ideal for a wide range of short and long-term storage applications. 

Container Sizes

We rent and sell flat rack containers in 20ft and 40ft sizes.

20 ft

Our 20ft shipping containers follow the industry-standard dimensions for storage and transportation. Flat-racks can easily support high-density or irregularly shaped cargo while remaining within required weight limits. Stacking four collapsible flat racks occupies the space of a single standard container.

40 ft

A 40ft flat-rack unit is helpful for side-loading cargo. Thanks to their extra length, 40ft containers are an excellent choice if you have larger commercial equipment to move. 

If you prefer, we can add extra protection to our 20ft and 40ft containers by wrapping the top.
