Used Container Grades

Our used containers are available to hire in A, B, and C grades. All of our boxes are 100% wind and waterproof regardless of container grade.

  • A-Grade containers:

Near-new containers that have only made one trip.

  • B-Grade containers:

These containers have been previously used for shipping goods internationally. They are structurally sound and in good condition overall, though they may contain minor dents, dings, light surface rust and signs of repair work. We can fit our B-grade shipping containers with CSC plates, which are valid for 12 months and may be extended.

  • C-Grade containers:

C-grade containers may display considerable signs of wear, including dents, external surface rust and repair. They are best suited for storage for agricultural and industrial uses.

Container Safety Convention (CSC) Certified Used Containers

Valid Container Safety Convention (CSC) plates are required for any shipping container used for ocean transport. All new storage containers receive a CSC plate valid for five years. Once this period expires, SEA Containers can extend this by a maximum of 30 months from the inspection date.

Our extensive inter-city network also allows us to transport your shipping container to any other New Zealand delivery location within a short time period.

Are the containers secure?

Yes, our weather-tight containers are made of steel and have lockable doors for maximum security. We can also install a lockbox on your container at your request, providing extra-secure protection for your goods and cargo.

Can I use a container for something other than storage?

Yes, we offer containers that are not only great for transport and storage but can also be used for temporary offices, workshops, or event spaces.

What sizes are available?

We sell and lease containers in a range of sizes, including 10ft, 20ft, and 40ft. We also have high-cube options for more oversized goods.

Do you offer modifications?

Yes, we can modify containers at your request to include a variety of features like doors, windows, insulation, and more.

Should I hire or buy a container?

The decision to hire or buy a container depends on your needs. Hiring is best for short-term or temporary storage, offering flexibility and lower initial pricing.
